This change adds a .Request property to the ApiController class that can
be used to access an HttpRequestMessage wrapping the HttpContext.
The HttpRequestMessage is stored in an http feature to make it accessible
to model binders and other infrastructure.
This change adds ApplicationModel conventions that can enable WebAPI
action conventions (verb mapping) and WebAPI overloading.
The conventions activate when a controller has a marker attribute.
ApiController has this attribute, so any ported code will automatically
opt-in.
Also ported some old tests for action selection to our new functional test
framework.
Adds an options class, as well as a default options setup that will
configure the default set of formatters.
Currently most of what options needs to do is a placeholder, but it later
do things like add ApplicationModelConventions, filters, formatters, model
binders, etc. Those will be added in follow up items.
This change includes the basic properties that we're providing for
compatability as well as some functional tests and unit tests that verify
that ApiController can be a controller class.

- We use the stringified version of the ModelExpression type name to detect ModelExpression properties on TagHelpers. This is so the MvcRazorHost can work in tooling and in runtime.

IActionConstraint follows a provider model similar to filters. The
attributes that go on actions/controllers can be simple metadata markers,
the 'real' constraint is provided by a set of configurable providers. In
general the simplest thing to do is to be both an
IActionConstraintMetadata and IActionConstraint, and then the default
provider will take care of you.
IActionConstraint now has stages based on the Order property. Each group
of constraints with the same Order will run together on the set of
actions. This process is repeated for each value of Order until we run out
of actions or run out of constraints.
The IActionConstraint interface is beefier than the equivalent in legacy
MVC. This is to support cooperative coding between sets of constraints
that know about each other. See the changes in the sample, which implement
webapi-style overloading.

React to identity changes
This is a perf improvement of about 500ms for our razor code generation
benchmark on my dev box. That's about .8% of the overall execution time of
this benchmark.
This change will remove a bunch of unnessary allocations from the
parsing/code-generation path, and should improve responsiveness.
For reference Enum.HasFlags performs boxing of the enum value, and then
does a type comparison to see if the types are the same. This is
significantly more costly than a normal bitwise and comparison, and it
results in allocations.
These types are allocated for every state transition in the parser (State)
or every character that's read (character reference) and are fairly
compact. Turning them into structs will remove a significant number of unnecessary
allocations in the parser.
For our razor code generation benchmark, making these changes yields about
500-750ms of speedup (out of 40000ms) or about 1%.
These changes were worth 2-3% of execution time on a page that makes heavy
use of attribute writing.
Making the overloads for writing a string public should show a small
throughput increase for a typical razor page.
1. Support multiple [Http*] attributes on an action.
2. Support multiple [Route] attributes on a controller and on an action.
3. Support creating multiple attribute routes using [AcceptVerbs("...", Route = "...")]
4. Detect attribute routed actions during action discovery and return one action per [Http*],

5. Merge all the HTTP methods of [Http*] and [AcceptVerbs] attributes in a method during
action discovery when there are no valid attribute routes defined on the action.
6. Build one action descriptor per controller [Route] + action [Http*], [AcceptVerbs]
or [Route] combination in an action.
7. Disallow the use of attributes that do not implement IActionHttpMethodProvider and
IRouteTemplateProvider simultaneously in methods that define attribute routed
actions and throw an exception during startup.
8. Disallow mixing attribute routed and non attribute routed actions on the same method
and throw an exception during startup.

When a new album is created in the store a notification is posted to all the connected browsers using SignalR.
Also added automation for the signalR hubs.
There is still some UI formatting improvements required in the way new arrivals are displayed. Will fix it in future checkins.

GetSourceLocation is frequently called to determine the location mappings
between the original document and the generated code.
The old implementation did a number of ToString and replace operations to
simplify the math on tracking the position - which put it front and center
in our performance measurements - about 25% of all execution time in a
sampling profile of our perf test.
The new code tracks position as code is written, and avoids allocations.
After these changes GetSourceLocation doesn't show up in the profile.

This change makes RouteValueDictionary a full IDictionary implementation
instead of a subclass of Dictionary.
Followed the patterns used in the old implementation, namely preserving
the struct-returning behavior of Keys/Values/GetEnumerator.
1. Added HttpNotFound() to Controller.
2. Updated HttpStatusCodeResult to expose the StatusCode as a property.
3. Added unit tests for HttpNotFound() and for HttpStatusCodeResult.
4. Updated the MvcSample to add an action that uses HttpNotFound().
5. Brought back HttpNotFoundResult and added unit tests for it.
For pages that can pop back (e.g. Partial pages \ View Components), the
invoking component already creates a new ViewContext. ViewStart, Pages
and Layouts need to share the same Layout. This is required for sharing
ViewData values (such as title).

This change exludes internal and nested types from being treated as
controllers. This is consistent with MVC5's behavior.
DefaultActionSelectionConventions was primarily tested through running
action selection. I wanted to also test the methods with substantial logic
in this class, so I moved a spate of a classes from private classes inside of the
integration tests to public classes so they could be shared. I also added
tests to fill gaps in DefaultActionSelectionConventions, which is the vast
vast majority of this change.

Move compilation and VirtualPathViewFactory to be singletons
And cache access to files.
The cache time is controlled by MVC options.
The cache is implemented in the ExpiringFileInfoCache.cs
This change allows a user to override a route prefix set using
[Route("...")] on the controller by providing a route template
on the action that starts with "~/" or "/". For example,
[HttpGet("~/...")] or [HttpGet("/...")]
If the user specifies a template in [Route] that starts with "~/"
or "/", we will just strip the prefix from the template and use
the remaining part of the template.
The reason to do this is that there's a reasonable extensibility
scenario where a user can implement a global prefix for routes as
a convention (using IReflectedApplicationModelConvention), and use
~/ to escape that prefix (just like we support with action-level routes).
Occurs on non windows system where Environment.NewLine is LF (1 symbol length) Unix, Linux, OS X etc. And options.ShowExceptionDetails is true.
Replaced number '2' to Environment.NewLine.Length.
The await/async patterns adds a state machine that takes time to jit, in this
case the await is not necessary and the code remains simple without adding
continuations.
This is useful for a variety of interesting scenarios in link generation
where a default value doesn't appear in the route template as a parameter.
This can be used to implement the desired behavior for areas - where the
'area' key is sticky.
This change adds tests and makes the behavior consistent with legacy MVC
as far as what values are visible in constraints.
This is important because it allows constraints to make decisions based on
whether or not a value is present even if it's not in the template. This
is similar to the behavior of WebAPI link generation or Area link
generation in MVC 5 - but without hardcoding.

By adding model specific code generation we are able to map the generic "base type" code to the cshtml file. This also involved utilizing the CreateClassDeclaration method in the Microsoft.AspNet.Razor library. Lastly Added a MvcCSharpChunkVisitor to add one more abstraction layer between the Microsoft.AspNet.Razor code and the Mvc code; this makes it so Mvc follows the same class structure as the base Razor parser.

The issue here is actually different than described in the bug.
ResultFilter should only short circuit when .Cancel is set to true. This
is consistent with legacy MVC.
Added tests for all of this stuff. There's already good test coverage for
the invoker, what was missing was coverage for the attributes and for the
methods on Controller. ExceptionFilterAttribute and
AuthorizationFilterAttribute don't have short circuiting logic inside of
them, so they are already covered by tests for the invoker.
This allows model binding to once again be independent of routing. Sending
RouteContext into model binding was an odd choice from a layering
point-of-view.
- All dependencies for RoleManager and UserManager should be required
- The old calls to GetService inside the constructors will throw instead of
returning null if left in after PR aspnet/DependencyInjection#87 is merged

The default implementation has a safe race, and does not allow for action description addition at runtime.
It can be replaced with an implementation that can reload.
Consumers of the new service that do extra caching are now responsible to look at the version and change the implementation.
This is the routing part of these changes, and just the breaking changes
parts.

Moving out Default Handler and IInlineConstraintResolver from RouteCollection.

With a recent change the file based configuration source will automatically look for the file in the application
base path. So getting the base path from IApplicationEnvironment service is no more necessary.
DataAnnotations used to reference System.Reflection.Compatibility, which
was giving us a reference to some methods "for free". Really we should
have been pulling in this package all along.

Treat actions with a dynamic constraint or httpmethod constraint as
'better' than those with just route constraints.
This is the first criteria used to filter down the 'best' match, so it's
applied before parameter-arity.
1. Using dictionaries instead of lists to look up Artists and Genres by name
2. Sample data insertion time decreased to 333ms from 619 ms with this change.
An exception thrown in a layout (or for that matter anything that is a rendering time exception)
is not bubbling to the end user.
The reason is that the StreamWrite is flushing because it's in a dispose pattern.
The solution is to wrap the stream and prevent writes/flushes if an exception has been thrown.
At the same time we stop writing BOM out to html files by default.
Also specified charset explicitly - so there is matches the encoding of the page.

Constructors that take IServiceProvider so it can be injected and also kept the parameterless constructor which will create its own DI container as before--not sure if this is desirable for Identity or not, but can be changed later.
- Renamed it to MvcRouteHandler
- Removed required IServiceProvider ctor param.
- The HttpContext flows the application services through to MVC. This does
require a call to app.UseContainer in order for things to work but that should be fine.
This will be the pattern we use for all frameworks going forward and we'll need to have some
good error handling around this area when things aren't wired up properly.
These are the cases where an interface returns Task, but our
implementation is synchronous. In these cases we prefer to declare the
method as async and suppress, because this keeps the exception semantics
the same as a 'true' async method.
There's an overload that's missing from ActionLink but is present on url
helper, making it very easy to mistakenly pass the wrong data. In the case
of #246, the controller name is treated as the route-values and the
route-values treated as html attributes, leading to the wrong link being
generated.
Removing all code related to External login from Account controller.
I also added a little ugly work around to initiate a static UserManager for testing purpose. This should go away shortly.

Specifying just the name of the file works fine on selfhost or IISExpress. When app is hosted in IIS, Config.json is being searched in the w3wp3.exe's folder path resulting in an exception.
So fixing the path of Config.json by retrieving the application base path from AppDomain.
The fix here is to do some cleanup we've been planning to do for a while,
rather than flowing IUrlHelper and IComponentHelper as part of the
ViewContext, they now are just grabbed from the service provider.
This simplifies the code for invoking a view, and gets us closer to the
desired API surface of ViewContext
If the same set of values (those present in config.json) is present in the environment variables
then ones from environment variables be picked up. This will be the antares scenario where the portal variables
flow in as environment variables with a specific prefix.

There are several portions of model validation that attempt to avoid
revalidating if a field has been validated. However the behavior of
ModelStateDictionary makes it difficult to distinguish between an
unvalidated field and a field without validation errors. This change
resolves this issue by letting the caller distinguish between the two
cases.
For link generation to areas, we need to provide the set of values that
the route could potentially provide.
Basically if we know what action we want to reach, we want to know whether
or not a given route could hit that action before giving it the OK to
generate a link.
For instance a route like '{controller}' couldn't hit an action like
'HomeController:DoACoolThing', since it can never provide a value for
'action'. This makes it possible for WebFX to make the right decision
without changing the behavior of any of the routing constructs. This also
has the side-effect of removing a class of order dependencies in routing
that cause bad links to be generated.
The code that does an 'UPSERT' of seed data on app start was querying
existing instances and attaching as modified of seed instances on the
same context. Now that we track query results this will throw because
the context has two instances of the same entity (same key value).
Swapping to use a temporary context to query existing data.
- add `IHtmlHelper<T>` and `ICanHasViewContext`

This was causing intellisense failures in VS. It looks like the
commandline is able to accidentally pick up the compatability extensions
from the model binding assembly, but this is not the case in VS.
Changed this code not to rely on compatability extensions.
We'll need to access the accepted values to do proper link generation, so
separating this process out into 2 parts.
Also moving defaults into the TemplateBinder because they are conceptually
part of the route, not part of the request. I'll do the same for
TemplateMatcher soon, but it's a big change and worth separating.
This doesn't add any new extensibility, and will likely change again in
the future when we add extensibility. For now this is a stopgap to reduce
duplication between JsonResult and JsonViewComponentResult.
We'll create a scoped service provider if the middleware that does it
isn't there.
We resolve all of our stuff from the scoped service provider, allowing
users to plug in any scoped things they want.
Ported UrlHelper to be a scoped service.

In the old world we used to copy/replace/instantiate new model state all over unnecessarily.

This will be necessary for partials, and for Components.
Basically, the view engine uses a dictionary of data to find the top level
view (for an action) - after we do that, we want this context to be
sticky, which means we need to pass it around. This ensures that partials
and components will be resolved under the same paths as the main view.
Currently this 'data' is just the route values - and there is an ongoing
discussing about the right design here. The data that's being passed WILL
change in the future.

This is as simple as modifying the base class to return task and await the ExecuteAsync method. Also added a piece to the sample project to verify functionality.
Removed all System.CodeDOM related code from net45. This involved modifying some existing code paths and most of all reducing the complexity of all of the CodeGenerators. Added some factory creation methods to build CodeBuilders. Ran code analysis and made adjustments to pass analysis.
This follows a similar pattern to html helpers - a minimal basis interface
that performs the main functionality, and a set of extension methods that
make up the rich API.

Added newlines inbetween ending line pragma's and code. Without the extra line the document does not format correctly. Separated expression and statement padding functionality. Statements need to have 1 less padding to account for the transition. This allows for users to write "@using System;" and still have proper intellisense and mapping. Also removed some legacy code that I came across when running tests.
.NET FX Team will not be adding Char.GetUnicodeCategory because it breaks layering. We cannot have a dependency form System.Runtime.dll to System.Globalization.dll.
This updates the K version of Music Store to use the updated Entity Framework API surface from the data repro. The changes made previously to the models and controllers in the full .NET version are also included here to bring both versions into line. The code is still non-functional as it was before.
Added a CSharpPaddingBuilder based on the existing
CodeGeneratorPaddingHelper to allow accurate padding within the generated
C# files. Also created tests based on the existing PaddingTest tests to
verify padding functionality.
Renamed actiondescriptor to routecontext, because action selection didn't happen yet.

Removed Equals from SetModelTypeCodeGenerator and removed accidentally
committed file. The Equals method caused a warning without a corresponding
GetHashCode().
* Paths rooted by a leading slash (e.g. /foo) are correctly resolved by the
PhysicalFileSystem. This change is an experiment to determine if we can
get away with not having virtual paths in WebFx.
* Additionally removing types (MetadataVirtualPathViewFactory,
VirtualPathAttribute) that are currently unused.
This involved adding more boiler plate to the base of the visitor classes such as a Writer and a Context. By following this contract for new visitors we'll ensure that visitors have enough information to add new features to Razor.
Without the initial code tree acceptance you end up stack overflowing. Also removed a validation check that ensures that there's always a base type (not true).
This is heavily based right now on raw Owin as the request/response model
since that will work for building samples/tests, and doesn't require
ifdefs in the code for k10. Once it's feasible, I'll port this to use the
Microsoft.AspNet.Abstractions types.
The sample here includes some basic route/endpoint implementations just to
prove that the route engine works in naive scenarios. These might live on
in the future in some form, but for now it's just part of the sample.
The next step is to integrate this with WebFX and start developing the
integration/configuration story for WebFX.
Specifically:
- Dispose contexts
- Use async wherever possible
- Stop using initializers (currently hard-coded to drop and recreate each run)
- Some general cleanup
- Stop using AttachDbFilename
Not included here:
- No major changes to app structure
- No major changes to data model
- No major changes to error handling, concurrency, etc.
This addition will eventually replace CodeDOM to allow for the k10 project to build. It is a new type of codegeneration method that is highly extensible.
